Privacy and your data

You can browse RareWays without an account. Please do not submit medical records, genetic reports, dates of birth or other identifying health details.

Research updates

If you subscribe, we store your email, selected disease, verification and unsubscribe dates in our hosted Postgres database. A disease interest does not necessarily mean you have that condition. Resend processes your address and email content to deliver verification and research updates. You must verify your email before updates start.

Requests and corrections

We store the text you submit and your optional email so we can review and respond. Requests are stored for up to 90 days. Requests previously submitted through Formspree may also be retained there; contact us to request their deletion.

AI explanations and hosting

Anthropic receives publication titles, abstracts and public trial criteria to generate explanations. We do not send subscription addresses to the explanation model. Vercel hosts the website and Neon hosts its database. These providers may process technical connection information, including IP addresses. Processing may occur outside Australia.

Saved research

Saved items and appointment questions stay in this browser on this device. Anyone using the same browser profile may see them. They are not automatically synced. Use the clear button on the saved page to remove them.

Removal and contact

Unsubscribe using the link in an update email. To request deletion of your address, requests or legacy Formspree data, email hello@rareways.org from the relevant address. We may need to confirm ownership. Unsubscribed subscription and delivery records are removed after 90 days by the maintenance job; backups may retain older copies until their normal expiry.

Abuse prevention stores hashed identifiers rather than raw addresses in rate-limit records. These expire and are removed by daily maintenance.
